Dr Christina Sanner

Meet Our Team

Christina Sanner, Ph.D, LP

Dr. Christina Sanner is a licensed clinical psychologist in Texas with over ten years of clinical experience with ages five and up. If you are someone struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, chronic health issues, addiction, trauma (shock, complex, and/or attachment trauma), and/or having a hard time living life to its fullest, and you want a safe place to learn, grow and heal, Dr. Sanner might be able to help. Sometimes, talk therapy alone is enough to resolve whatever ails you, but when there is chronic stress or trauma that has persisted in the mind/body for a prolonged period, therapies that take a "bottom-up" approach can have more of a lasting impact. If desired, she can combine talk therapy with bodywork.

She completed a master’s degree in psychology with a concentration in Counseling at The State University of New York at New Paltz, where her training emphasized a warm, supportive, client-centered approach to counseling. Then, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology at The University of South Dakota, where she gained a lot of knowledge and experience in psychotherapy, psychological testing, and research. There, she was fortunate to be supervised by three psychologists with different theoretical orientations (psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive behavioral). After a few years into clinical practice, she became certified in EMDR and trauma healing bodywork (Transforming Touch by Stephen Terrell, Psy.D, and Somatic Resilience and Regulation by both Stephen Terrell PsyD and Kathy Kain, PhD).

She works to develop a warm, empathic, nonjudgmental space because safety provides the foundation for growth. Additionally, she provides psychoeducation about the mind-body connection, specifically about survival physiology and the polyvagal theory developed by Stephen Porges, and how talk therapy combined with bodywork can help.
